Win Some you Lose Some

It's very complicated... like a science but more like a pseudo science... but extended trial and error has led me to conclude that airports are allergic to Danelle. Kinda like how a butterfly flapping it's wings in North America can cause a hurricane in India... Danelle purchasing a ticket online can cause every airport on that day to delay flights, have hailstorms and tornado watches... and make airline companies not give us free hotel or food vouchers...
...after 3 hours waiting in line to be rerouted we're 2nd in line... and a lady to be heretofore named as sneaks... slithers in line ahead of the non-english speaking people ahead of us... Danelle being too nice... doesn't let me call sneaks out and make her go to the back of the line... and we're treated to one more lesson of why you should never be nice to anyone... (taking advantage of you) ... SOOOO... Sneaks gets helped... foreign dude gets helped... and... lady leaves and starts boarding our flight... Screwed...
...Danelle suddenly gets mad... stops sneaks... calls her out... "Just so you know that was VERY RUDE to sneak into line like that"... (SNEAKS) "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize yadda yadda whatever"... I run after the airline lady and convince her to help just one more group (us)... and we get onto our flight... and guess who's sitting in our row... SNEAKS!
...Now we're in THE DIRTY... Sharing a hotel room with a fellow San Diegoanite?... no clothes... no toothbrush... delivery pizza... pepperoni... and no ride from the airport tomorrow... but I'm excited...

Privateers 2008

I just heard how the CIA and the NSA are now going to sell contracts to private firms for information gathering and espionage... Small similarity to back in the day when countries would hire out pirates, give them some sort of shaky legal footing, and allow them to do whatever they wanted to the enemy as long as it was the enemy...

...It means no government oversight, like there really is a whole lot of that anyways... it means no need to obey certain rules that public servants might be under, such as the new torture bill that the US just passed not too long ago... it means a whole lot less caring about accidental deaths... and very possibly a whole lot more people mad at the west that might not have to be...

You Know What I Like About Baptists?

Are you prepared...

... The End is near
... Jesus may come back tomorrow...
...What if you died tonight...

...A guy on the street corner holding a sign...
...Or a fire and brimstone pastor scaring children about hell...

,,,it's a simple message and it's meant to completely turn your world upside down...

...Because the thing is... believing the message may in fact turn your life upside down...It tells a person time is short... Live like it's your last day on earth... Get the most out of each day... Proclaim the gospel to those around you... Don't worry about hardships because they will be over soon... and especially... Don't worry about that new car or that big house cause it's going up in fire anyways...

... and then comes nuclear war and Armageddon...

"...Conspiracy theorists unite...

...Look for a one-world government and one currency and all that... Wars and natural disasters... Israel being put back on the map... 1/3 of the world will go up in fire (Nuclear Weapons)... The night will be as bright as the day (Electricity)... Everyone will see Jesus at the same time (Satellites)... The power of the saints will finally be defeated... Science and the media are doing a pretty effective job of it... An army of millions and millions on horseback (China's standing army is 200 million and still rides horses)..."

... Is it too much...? ...Maybe...

... Being aware that you can die is one thing... but believing that the end is almost assure entirely different... And may backfire into... eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die... stop caring about your life past today... press the panic button... or worse yet press the big red nuclear 'button' and invite the end here even faster... self-fulfilling prophecies anyone...?

...But is Armageddon really at hand... Or are we looking too hard...?

... Think about this...

...In the Salem witch trials the pastor of the church had preached for a year on 'enemies in the church' and on witches and the occult... so when girls started having visions they immediately assumed 'enemy' and 'witch'... and they had a witch hunt...

...A few towns over the pastor had preached a year on the workings of the Holy Spirit... and when girls had visions in that town the people said it was the Holy Spirit... they had a revival... In fact the second of the great American revivals...

... So the signs are there to be read any way you want... Utopia or Armageddon...

...for my part I hope the Armageddon crew doesn't win.

No Shoes, No Shirt...

No Problem...

Tailgating is a science like pregaming is a science like science is a science... it's empirical, it's theoretical, it's philosophical, it's expirimental and most definitely it's applied. In theory I would call myself an amateur tailgater at best... I don't have the grill and cooler space to make the pros, on the other I'm experienced enough to avoid most of the pitfalls.

1) The Pitfall of Excess: Tailgating for too long and are prematurely tired and unable to actually do or see said intended important event. 4PM for a 5:30 rendezvous with Leane Rimes is probably the right kind of wrong... in essence missing Gary Allen at 4PM... but in effect having songs about rain as background music for the tailgate.

2) The Pitfall of lack of Preparedness: Do not get stuck at such and such event hungry or thirsty and have to pay for ridiculously overpriced slash even more ridiculously awful food... you won't survive a concert with beer, pizza and nachos...

3) The Pitfall of Mediocrity: Tailgating is not an excuse to skimp on quality... Neither are warmup acts... Bubba Burgers, Coronas and Brooks and Dunn illustrate my point exactly... Brooks and Dunn could be headliners and here they are just the set up... this is the same kind of attitude you have to have when it comes to your tailgate...

4) The Pitfall of Accordance: Light beer for the summer... Corona with lime, Honeymoon (Blue Moon ripoff) with orange... Don't screw this up...

5) Mistaken Identity of Fun for Non-fun: People confuse drinking with fun... Alcohol is almost always non-fun when not respected... It leads to puking, blacking out, and not-remembering... Treat it like you would its polar opposite coffee - Too much of it is always the opposite of fun, Enjoy the taste, Enjoy the comradery, Enjoy the feeling, Be responsible, Don't use it as an excuse for anything you wouldn't do normally... some of the funnest people I've ever hung out with never touched a drop of alcohol... at the same time a lot of people live their whole lives as self-conscious stiffs UNTIL they do touch the stuff...

6) Singularity Matrix: People are fun, people are energy, the fun of a concert is the energy the place gives... the laughter of comedy comes from everyone else around you laughing... the main reason why comedies are always better in the theater... So I don't care what your reasons are... they're probably good ones... but a person can justify anything about anything in their own mind... Humans are a social people... Call around and find somebody... and if you still can't find a wingman... give Viper a call... he'll fly with you.

Overheard from many girls as I saw a guy asking a girl to marry him at the concert... "do not ever let a guy do that to me please."

KENNY'S FOOT GOT CAUGHT IN THE ELEVATOR THAT BROUGHT HIM ON STAGE CRUSHING 2 BONES IN HIS FOOT... AMAZING... HE WAS WALKING 9-1:30 ON A BROKEN FOOT...

...finally Home at 4AM

Ron Paul

In all affairs it's a healthy thing now and then to hang a question mark on the things you have long taken for granted... Bertrand Russell

Like the picture that Dorian Gray loathed... we all fear to look back at ourselves and see the person that we really are...

And like a sports team... how we fail to address glaring holes in fear of breaking a streak... and how quickly comes the finger pointing... and the wondering what went wrong and the picking up the pieces at the golf course in the summer...

Ron Paul's book 'The Revolution' holds up a mirror to the United States and finally addresses the elephant in the room...

The Federal Reserve and deficit spending, Social Security, the War on Drugs, the War on Terror and the Patriot Act, and the US policy of intervention and aid to the rest of the world...

And I really think people should read it... regardless if he wins the election or not...

Battle of Charleston

"What a strange time it was! Who knew his neighbor? Who was the traitor and who the patriot?..."

SETTING

Yesterday I went to a 'War of Northern Aggression' OR 'War for Southern Independence' (Civil War) re-enactment yesterday about The Battle of Charleston' on James Island. (Sorry no pictures cause I'm an idiot and forgot my camera... I know that means you're stuck because you don't have any imagination anymore on account of TV and video games...)

...for any history fanatics Charleston, South Carolina is the home of Fort Sumter where the first shots were fired on supply ships when Lincoln attempted to re-supply the fort... South Carolina was also the first state to secede in 1860...

... AND ya the "Battle of Charletson" is no "Gettysburg"... with only maybe 100-150 soldiers fighting instead of a couple thousands... but the 'intimacy' of it meant that we were right in the action... literally 2 feet from soldiers firing, 10 feet from the cannons (DEFINITELY cover your ears), and less than a foot from a horse that very nearly ran into the crowd after getting spooked by cannon fire...

PLOT

...The official story showed some confederate cannon getting stuck in mud, and each side advancing on the cannon and trying to get it unstuck... blah blah blah...

...the REAL battle was about GREAT and HEROIC confederates who were AMAZING and AWESOME and way BETTER DRESSED... who KEPT their PRIDE and DIGNITY in the face of the MARAUDING and MERCILESS and HATEFUL union aggressors...

ACT 1: Character Development

...The union army came marching into a city and fired upon hapless and frightened women and children who then ran to take cover in the trees. Then the confederates came up and defended the women and children and forced the union army back... and Voila... we have Protagonist and Antagonist...

ACT 2: Rising Action and the Building of Suspense

...THE fight over the cannon was 30 minutes of musket and cannon fire (one of the cannons would make a huge smoke ring when it fired that would stay and build and float away which I thought was really cool), infantry movements, cavalry charges, each army attacking and retreating a couple of times... even one 'rebel yell'... and eventually the Confederates got their cannon back... YAY!

ACT 3: Climax

...the union army surrounded, charged, and took the fort, the cannons, and 15 or so prisoners while the rest of the force retreated (walking slowly because 'these colors don't run') to another base set up at the end of the field... Not a chance were they going to give up their flag. (Probably a hard part of the battle to re-enact considering every one of the actors paying roughly $2,000 a piece and $20,000 for the cannons were from the 27th South Carolina Volunteers...)

FIN

...the aftermath is 1 confederate soldier lying on the ground fake dead and probably 20 union soldiers on the ground that met the same fate. 3 union cavalry were also 'dead' on the ground (they held the reigns of their horses as they lay on the ground, and crazily real life their horses kept nudging them to try to get them up), 1 was taken prisoner, and obviously no similar casualties were had by the Confederates... Crazy that whenever a confederate got shot they were only wounded...

...after the battle everyone lined up, did a salute to the brave men and women fighting today for the country, and finally gave a Su-thern great cheer because 'the South will rise again!'... I guess still waters still run deep...
